A Custom Built Explosive Magazine for South Australian Police

Australian Target Systems entrusted us with the mission to craft a bespoke Explosive Magazine for the South Australian Police (SAPOL). Our primary goal was to engineer a secure and resilient storage solution capable of accommodating two distinct types of ammunition on-site. This unit needed to ensure seamless access for the safe retrieval and loading of ammunition on pallets.

Recognising the need for a flexible and mobile storage solution, our containerised Explosive Magazines offer the perfect answer. Designed to be easily relocated and independent of any building structure, our custom-built explosive magazines are engineered to contain internal blasts, ensuring safety by preventing any impact on the surrounding environment.

Constructed from a 40ft container to optimise storage capacity, our custom-designed Explosive Magazine boasts unique enhancements beyond our standard offerings. Featuring an Internal Rail System and Trolleys for seamless pallet storage, it ensures effortless loading with dual pallet doors at each end. Additionally, a strategically placed third door on the side wall provides easy access to any point along the rail system.

We’ve enhanced safety and functionality by installing an advanced Intrinsic lighting system tailored for hazardous area classification zone 2. This includes three internal LED light bars and three IP66-rated switches positioned outside each door, functioning seamlessly as a three-way switch. Additionally, a robust distribution board equipped with a main switch and circuit breaker has been integrated for optimal performance. Adhering to the stringent AS2187.1-1998 health and safety standards, this unit guarantees the utmost protection for both personnel and external assets during ammunition storage.
