One of our standard workshop designs, with a few added extras!
Port Containers were contacted by Hydratight, a global provider of onsite machining tools, equipment and personnel, to build them a modified shipping container. They service multiple clients and work scopes around Australia and required the container to be fitted out as a mobile servicing, testing and calibration workshop for onsite operations and support.
They liked the concepts of one of our standard workshop modification designs, Model 20WS1, which includes a second set of double doors in the side wall, heavy duty shelving, workbench, window with shutters, whirlybirds and vents. As it was traveling around site to site they wanted a few additional container accessories installed. These included an insulated roof, air conditioner and lockable cage doors around the shelving. We also painted the container yellow to match the company’s branding.
So why use a shipping container as the workshops structure?
“We chose to use a container for strength and security both in transit and in use” states Roger Whennell, Hydratight’s Asset Manager. “For us, this is a prototype of our first custom-made service container and it looks very good.”
Roger is happy with the company’s new workshop and adds “The provision of this service container, together with the matching storage container (currently being built for delivery next week) will allow us greater flexibility and projection into the field.”
